Hydroponic Growing
Hydroponic
growing means growing plants without soil - using just water/solution
instead. There are only a small number of plants that can be
grown in water. Hydroponic growing actually requires the same growing
conditions for successful growth as plants grown using more traditional
methods. All plant roots need water, vitamins and air for their best
growth. The most effective hydroponic growing requires the careful
control of all of these aspects.
Amazingly, the first recorded hydroponic growing was done by King Nebuchadnezzar (yes, the man from the Bible) when he made the Hanging Gardens of Babylon which are now considered to be one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. Hydroponic growing has remained a subject of investigation ever since thenbut recent breakthroughs have moved hydroponic growing from the science lab to the commercial world and then ultimately into the houses & lofts of the common man. What a journey!!
